Sizzling Sounds at the East Lansing Summer Solstice Jazz Festival
Join WKAR Radio at the 12th annual Summer Solstice Jazz Festival for two extraordinary evenings of live jazz in downtown East Lansing on Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m., both days.
Dan Bayer will be your host for this free event, staged in the heart of the city, which dually salutes American’s own unique music genre – jazz – while celebrating the summer solstice. Also scheduled to host stages are Doug Collar, Brad Walker and Mark Bashore.This year’s high wattage line-up on Friday, June 20, will include the Detroit Tenors, the Hot Club of Detroit, Straight Ahead, and the Community Music School Jazz Orchestra.
The following day attendees will be treated to music by the Sunny Wilkinson Quartet, Colton Weatherston, the MSU Professors of Jazz with Sophie Milman, and Tumbao Bravo.
The festival will also host performances featuring Joshua E. Davis & Friends and the Rockelle Whitaker Project.

The event is co-produced by the City of East Lansing, Wharton for Performing Arts, and the MSU College of Music Jazz Studies Center for Performing Arts. WKAR Radio & TV are proud to be a Gold Note Sponsor of this year’s East Lansing Summer Solstice Jazz Festival.
