His raspy voice, his big smile and his incomparable musicianship made Louis Armstrong not only a beloved figure in American jazz, but a highly respected one.

On the July 4 edition of Jazz 'til Midnight, Doug Collar offers a Louis Armstrong birthday tribute, featuring the trumpeter's greatest hits.

Also on the program are new releases from Jerry Gonzalez, Hal Galper, Esperanza Spaulding and Arlene McDaniel Trio. Vocals include selections by Ray Brown, Jr, Randy Crawford, and Madeleine Peyroux.
