Event Description

My name is Sherry Davis and I am the PREVNT Grant Coordinator for the Tri-County Office on Aging. The purpose of this grant is to promote Elder Abuse Awareness in Ingham County, especially in vulnerable communities such as minorities, persons with disabilities and LGBT. On Wednesday, June 13, we are hosting a symposium at the Hannah Community Center in East Lansing from 1:30-4:30. We will begin registration at 1:00 at which time our guests can peruse our resource tables. Our program consists of a keynote speaker, a panel discussion, audience feedback and refreshments. Our invited panelists include representatives from the African American, Latino, LGBT, and disability communities. We are inviting our panelists to share their observances, problems and concerns about elder abuse specific to their local communities. Also invited to be on our panel are representatives from Adult Protective Services, Legal Services of South Central Michigan. Lansing Association for Human Rights, SALUS Center, End Violent Encounters (EVE), Tri-County Office on Aging, and Lansing Police Department to provide advocacy and resource information. ALL ARE WELCOME. Reservations are requested but not required. Please contact Sherry Davis, 517-887-1467, daviss@tcoa.org for reservations or questions. PLEASE HELP PROMOTE THIS EVENT.
