Remains an everlasting masterpiece. Bring the family! Composed in Germany in the 1890s, “Hansel and Gretel” was written by Engelbert Humperdinck, with a libretto by his sister, Adelheid Wette. It was first performed in Weimar, Germany, December 1893, conducted by Richard Strauss. It was followed by its Hamburg premiere in September 1894, conducted by Gustav Mahler. The opera, which will be performed in English, features a small cast, along with the MSU Children’s Choir and Capital Ballet Theatre.
